Prime Minister Hamza attends the inauguration ceremony of the President of the North Eastern State of Somalia.
Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, together with the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, attended the inauguration ceremony of the President of the North Eastern State of Somalia, H.E. Abdulqadir Ahmed Aw-Ali (Firdhiye), and the Vice President, H.E. Abdirashid Yusuf Jibril. The ceremony was held today in the city of Las Anod, the capital of Sool Region.
The Prime Minister extended his congratulations to the President and Vice President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and all institutions of the North Eastern State administration. He urged them to work in service of their people, strengthen security, reinforce state-building efforts in Somalia, and promote peace and reconciliation within society.
“I commend the government and the people of North Eastern Somalia for their efforts toward unity and national cohesion. You have not pursued division among the Somali people; instead, you have focused on achieving peace, solidarity, good neighborliness, and strengthening state-building and the unity of the Federal Republic of Somalia,” said Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
In a message addressed to the Somali people, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre emphasized the importance of defending the nation, strengthening unity between the people and the government, and called upon traditional elders and Somali intellectuals to stand firmly in support of national sovereignty.
“What we need is unity and solidarity. I call on the Somali people to remain vigilant and accept reality. Today, our country is at a critical political stage that requires wisdom and maturity. At such a time, it is essential to support the national leadership in its continuous efforts to unite the Somali people and defend national unity.”
Prime Minister Hamza also praised the communities living in North Eastern Somalia for their commitment to peace, unity, and the territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, noting that they stood firm during difficult times to once again raise the flag of the Republic in the northern regions of Somalia.
