Prime Minister Hamza: “For our country to have a prosperous future, the key is to create a better future for Somali children.”

The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, attended an event commemorating the 10th anniversary of Somalia’s accession to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).

The Prime Minister highlighted the situation of Somali children, the risks they face, and the difficult conditions that continue to hinder their growth, safety, and access to their basic rights.

“The challenges facing Somali children include irregular migration, where they endure great suffering in seas and deserts; terrorist indoctrination; clan-based discrimination; drug abuse; and the exploitation of underage children for labor, with the intention of depriving them of their future.” said the Prime Minister.

H.E. Hamza stated that the DanQaran Government is firmly committed to protecting the rights of Somali children, with important laws and policies developed to safeguard the rights they are entitled to. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that all Somali children have access to quality education and proper healthcare services.

“We have realized that if a child lacks education, it is no different from a country without a future. For our nation to have a future, the key is to create one for Somali children—ensuring they receive quality education and proper upbringing,” said Prime Minister Hamza.

Finally, the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, thanked the Ministry and the Minister of Family and Human Rights, H.E. Khadiija Mohamed Al-Makhsuumi, for their efforts in promoting and protecting the rights of Somali children. He urged all government institutions, civil society, and international organizations to work together to safeguard and advance the wellbeing of Somali children.
