Prime Minister Hamza Inaugurates Multiple Development Projects
The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, today inaugurated a number of development projects in Mogadishu, including a paved road and government facilities that will play a significant role in Somalia’s state-building efforts. He also laid the foundation stones for new projects to be implemented by the DanQaran Government.
The Prime Minister first inaugurated a two-kilometre paved road constructed by the Banadir Regional Administration in Daynile District. H.E. Hamza thanked the regional administration and the residents of the capital for completing this important road, which will improve transportation, particularly for people travelling between Banadir Region and Lower Shabelle Region, while contributing to the restoration of economic infrastructure and enhancing the beauty of the capital.
The Prime Minister noted that roads are not merely routes for travel but symbols of progress, development, and national reconstruction. He commended the ongoing efforts to improve the capital’s infrastructure.
H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre underscored that Mogadishu has moved beyond the difficult periods it once endured and is firmly on the path of progress and recovery. He urged the people of the capital to safeguard peace and stability, emphasizing that they are the foundation of all development.
The Prime Minister also called for greater efforts to keep the city clean and encouraged public awareness and compliance with traffic laws to ensure safety and order.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the new headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, which has been constructed to modern standards in line with international specifications.
He praised the Minister and the ministry’s staff for their efforts in completing the facility and encouraged Somali farmers and businesspeople to increase domestic agricultural production so that Somalia can achieve food self-sufficiency and reduce dependence on imported goods that can be produced locally.
The Prime Minister stressed that agriculture is one of the key pillars of Somalia’s economy and stated that genuine independence cannot be achieved while the country remains dependent on imported food.
The Prime Minister also officially opened the Somali Diaspora Centre under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The centre will serve the Somali diaspora living across the five continents, estimated at more than four million people.
He stated that the centre will strengthen communication between the government and the Somali diaspora while addressing their needs and concerns through the implementation of the National Diaspora Policy previously approved by the DanQaran Government.
The Prime Minister commended the Somali diaspora for their significant contribution to the country’s development, noting that they have consistently supported the Somali people and demonstrated resilience while preserving their religion, culture, and mother tongue wherever they live around the world.
Finally, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the headquarters of the Ministry of Livestock, Forestry and Range, as well as the National Livestock Research Centre. He said these facilities will play a vital role in advancing the livestock sector, which is the backbone of Somalia’s economy.
He emphasized that research is the cornerstone of improving the quality and productivity of Somali livestock and expressed confidence that the project will be completed in the near future.
The inauguration of these completed projects and the launch of new ones coincides with Somalia’s celebration of the 66th anniversary of its Independence, a milestone marked this year by the progress and tangible achievements delivered by the DanQaran Government.
