Cabinet debates 2020 electoral law, financial reform

Somali federal Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Khayre on Thursday chaired weekly ordinary cabinet meeting, which the ministers discussed about 2020 electoral law, financial reform and “is-xilqaan” campaign.

Interior, federal affairs and reconciliation minister, Abdi Mohamed Sabriye, briefed the cabinet about the 2020 electoral law, which the ministry prepared and closes to finalize before starting public and federal member states consultations and submit to cabinet for approval.

To enable one person, one vote polls by 2020 is the end goal of Somali federal government electoral agenda which allows citizens to elect future leadership.

Finance minister, Dr. Abdirahman Duale Beyle also detailed to cabinet about Somalia’s remarkable progress, staff monitoring program three (SMP3), arrears clearance, current financial reform and printing Somali shillings, saying “The debt-forgiveness is the end goal”.

“I chaired the weekly cabinet meeting today where we debated critical national issues including, the ongoing Financial Reform, the “Isxilqaan” campaign and the Electoral Law 2020” the PM said.

Deputy Prime Minister, Khadar Mohamed Guled gave the cabinet detailed information of accelerating “Is-xilqaan” program which government and civilians jointly rebuild roads, historical places and government institutions buildings.
